Let all men know and perceive and recognize your unselfishness (your considerateness, your forbearing spirit). The Lord is near [He is coming soon].
— Philippians 4:5 (AMPC)
With God’s help, we can be a model of generosity for everyone we come in contact with. If you’re a giver instead of a taker in life, it won’t take long before people realize you’re very different from what they’re used to. As they witness your joy, they’ll see that a thankful heart and a generous spirit make a person happier than being selfish.

Jesus encouraged us to be kind, and let us know that when everyone sees the way we make a habit of giving, they would recognize and glorify God (see Matthew 5:16). Now, Jesus didn’t mean that we should be show-offs or do things for the purpose of being seen, but He was saying that we have the ability to positively influence the people around us. Generosity not only affects those around us in amazing ways, but it brings us joy, too!
Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for the measure of influence You’ve given me. Please help me use that influence to show others what a generous spirit looks like. Thank You for enabling me to be a light in the darkness today! In Jesus’s Name, amen.
